Receiver-in-Ear (RIE) hearing aids offer some of the newest styles on the market and are the most popular type of hearing aid. RIE hearing aids offer exceptional sound quality and are barely visible due to their transparent tube and thin wires.
What are RIE Hearing Aids?
Receiver-in-Ear (RIE) hearing aids are made up of two primary parts. The first is a very small casing that sits behind the ear and houses all of the electronic components of the hearing aid. The second is the receiver (also called the speaker) which rests in your ear canal and is connected to the casing by a narrow transparent tube containing very thin wires.
They come standard with dual directional microphones that sit near the top of the ear to allow better location of sound. The receiver tubes do not need to be changed frequently like a traditional BTE hearing aid. Some models are rechargeable so no changing of batteries is required. Most RIE models are compatible with wireless accessories and many models offer iPhone streaming.
